Attorney John Anthony Simmons, Sr.

Simmons & Ortlieb, PLLC is a general practice law firm started in 1999 by Attorney John Anthony Simmons, Sr.

John Anthony Simmons, Sr., Esquire

Founding Member, Partner

I started my legal career as a prosecutor and have been in private practice since 1999.  During that time I have served a wide variety of clients as part of my practice. My practice primarily includes family law (Divorce/Post-Divorce, Parenting Plans, child support, alimony, restraining orders, modifications of orders), civil litigation, contracts, criminal defenseestate planning and probate administration.  As such, I am no stranger to the courtroom.

I believe that knowing you and how you think makes me a better advocate for you.  Sometimes you may know exactly what you want.  Other times, you may just be frustrated and not really even know what to file in Court.  Over 20 years of experience helps me to be able to guide you as to what to do next.

I take an educational approach to representing you.  I explain the legal landscape to you so that you know what law will apply to your case.  I also make sure you know how the process works, so that you are informed ahead of time as to what to expect and how long it will take.

I am a staunch defender of my clients.  In most areas of my practice, when a client walks through the door something about their lives has gone wrong, has happened unexpectedly, or both.  During those times, you need someone who gives sound advice and who knows what to do.

I believe in frequent communication with my clients.  I also approach all situations assuming that the client knows more of the facts than I do, which means that I am always listening to my clients.

I believe in giving back to my community.  I have served in elected and appointed office at the Town and State levels.  I am a graduate of UNH (with a B.A. in Spanish and International Affairs) and Regent University (with a Master of Arts in Public Policy). I received my Juris Doctor from Franklin Pierce Law Center (now UNH Law) in Concord, NH.

I am bilingual and lived in Granada, Spain while a student.  I have been back numerous times since living there and love the Spanish people (and all Latinos for that matter) very much, believing that a common language is a great uniter of people.

My beautiful bride and I enjoy raising our five children in my childhood home.  Among many other things, I am passionate about people, our country, travel and good food.
